Bloodhound 380 Emergency Bloodhound Team |
|
|
In Summer of 2007, Second Alarmers began a project to provide Search and Rescue Services to the region and arranged with Emergency Bloodhound Team, a local dog handler group, to infuse their operation into Second Alarmers' Organization. Having common members eased this transition. Several times during 2007, the Bloodhound Handlers and Second Alarmers worked together on searches in the vicinity and the project grew from there. As a component of the Search & Rescue Team, the E.B.T. provides the K-9 element to missing person searches when that service is needed. Working in conjunction with the Marine Unit, the Bike Team, the Rescue Department and the leadership/command component of the Search & Rescue Team, E.B.T. puts Second Alarmers on the forefront of Search & Rescue in the region. SARS Search & Rescue members also provide services to Montgomery County Department of Public Safety's Area Command Team in the ESF-9 and ESF-8 sections when emergencies in the county warrant the activation of the Area Command. E.B.T. is also available independently of the rest of the Search & Rescue Team when local law enforcement agencies request the Bloodhound's services to assist with investigations or tracks of a criminal, or potentially criminal nature. In 2007 alone, since the inception in August of 2007, EBT has responded as Second Alarmers, to 7 emergency search calls in Montgomery County. Since the beginnings of the team at Second Alarmers, it has grown significantly to include other dog search specialties such as air-scenting and water cadaver detection and other breeds of dogs in addition to Bloodhounds. |
