Emergency Search Unit

In Summer of 2007, Second Alarmers began a project to provide Search and Rescue Services to the region and formed a multi-element unit, made up of some new teams, and existing special teams from Second Alarmers Members.  The Search & Rescue Team is lead by a Pennsylvania DCNR-Certified Search Manager, and each component team is led by an appropriately qualified and experience SAR provider.

The Emergency Search Unit utilizes existing Special Teams from Second Alarmers, already qualified in their particular specialties, and merges them together for for a multi-faceted and flexible unit that can operate in many different environments.  Each of the members of the special teams are able to provide support to the other specials teams, freeing those specialists to perform the task at hand.  For example, member of the Rescue Unit can provide ground/shoreline support to the Marine Unit, or cover/support to the Bloodhound Handlers.  Each team compliments the others to form a large staff, experienced in many disciplines.

Working in concert with the Marine Unit, the Bike Team, the Rescue Department and the Emergency Bloodhound Team put Second Alarmers on the forefront of Search & Rescue in the region.   SARS Search & Rescue members also provide services to Montgomery County Department of Public Safety's Area Command Team in the ESF-9 and ESF-8 sections when emergencies in the county warrant the activation of the Area Command.
