SARS Gets a New Recruit for the Emergency Bloodhound Team |
It was a rainy day, Thursday the 11th of October when the urgent call came in, a Bloodhound was in the Montgomery County SPCA shelter, and the Manager of the shelter did what was done back in 2002 when Nancy Drew was sheltered there, he called the Emergency Bloodhound Team. Second Alarmer's internal communications systems sprang into action, seeking out the help that this 9-month old puppy needed, a home, and a JOB. Anita Crielly, long-time SARS member and Assistant Infection Control Officer answered the call after already signing up for the Search and Rescue Team as a ground team member. Now she's ready to take the responsibility for a dog, and begin the training process to become a Dog handler for the E.B.T. Mike and Melissa Garvin, Matt McVoy and Anita Crielly traveled to Perkiomenville to meet with Chris Langiotti, the Manager of the Shelter and Humane Law Enforcement Officer of the SPCA, who was waiting for Second Alarmers, after business hours to personally assure that this wonderful dog met, and received her new home and a job that will satisfy her instinctual drive for trailing. Bonnie will begin her training with Second Alarmers after she gets a chance to settle into her new home, and get used to her new family, but we're anxious to have a new puppy on the team and look forward to the day when Bonnie responds to her first call-out with the team.
Left-to-right: Captain Matt McVoy, Melissa Garvin, Michael "Boz" Garvin, Anita Crielly, Bonnie Creilly, Chris Langiotti. |
