Volunteering during COVID-19 response

We are sorry but due to the current COVID-19 situation we are currently not accepting applications for new volunteers.  As soon as things stabilize we will announce when we can once again accept applications.  If you are already a healthcare provider and want to help during the COVID-19 response, you may want to consider the Montgomery County Medical Reserve Corps.  For more information please visit their website:

Stay safe!

Thank you for your interest in Second Alarmer’s Rescue Squad! Volunteering here means joining one of the largest providers of 911 Emergency Medical Services in Montgomery County, an organization named one of the “Best Places to Work in PA”, and “EMS Agency of the Year”.

We want to help you help us! Second Alarmer’s gives you the opportunity to give back to your community while learning from and working with EMS providers who are at the top of their field. You might be a newly certified EMT looking for more clinical experience, a tenured Paramedic focusing back on your community, or a high school student considering a future career path. SARS deeply values the contributions of all its volunteer members. We will fulfill your ambitions by achieving our mission together: “To provide the highest level of pre-hospital emergency medical care...”

We want to inspire you! Newly designed Volunteer Field Training Programs encourage continuation of education with opportunities for advancement within the Organization. With clearly defined tracks for experienced and inexperienced EMS providers, if you can show us commitment, we can guarantee you a reward. We offer volunteers a generous incentive program, free in-house classes, and reimbursement for outside training. Although, nothing can replace the feeling of helping someone in his or her time in need.

We encourage you to explore! Check out our website where you can find our Mission Statement, Core Values, and a history of the Organization. Also, like us on Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date on our activities in the community. Once you’re ready to apply, download the Volunteer Membership Application and follow the enclosed instructions. If you are not completely sure if this is for you, contact us to schedule a Ride-Along where you have the opportunity to experience a shift on the ambulance before making the commitment.

We encourage you to ask! Contact us with your volunteer membership questions, or click the apply now button to download a membership application.
